Our Argentinian partner, Cuvelier Los Andes, was named a four-star estate (out of a possible five stars) in the latest edition of The Wine Advocate, released December 2011. All of the wines reviewed earned at least a 90-point score, which really speaks to their overall level of amazing quality. The scores from issue #198 are below:
- 2009 Cuvelier Los Andes Coleccion Red Blend — 92
- 2010 Cuvelier Los Andes Cabernet Sauvignon — 90
- 2010 Cuvelier Los Andes Malbec — 91
- 2010 Cuvelier Los Andes Merlot — 90
- 2009 Cuvelier Los Andes Grand Malbec – 94
- 2009 Cuvelier Los Andes Grand Vin – 93
The CLA wines are all sustainably-farmed and sourced entirely from their 115-acre estate vineyards, planted in 1999. While the vines get plenty of sunshine from their high-altitude (3200 feet a.s.l.), they are definitely made with an old-world hand — we call them Argentinian wines with a French accent. What a great showing for our French friends in Argentina, we couldn’t be happier for them.
